Waitangi Day celebrates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi on 06 February 1840. From the British point of view, the treaty justified making New Zealand a British colony. According to Wikipedia, it is today "considered the founding point of New Zealand as a nation."So there. Happy Waitangi Day!

wow, i read this last night and i didn't believe it. but then i opened up my planner (which was in my backpack all day yesterday), and lo and behold... waitangi day. if that ain't impressive, i don't know what is.
